PLEASE FORWARD WIDELY

Today, owners of Metro Lighting and Crafts filed restraining order papers against fired IWW member as another attempt at breaking solidarity and picket lines. The restraining order sites an event that took place in May 2007 and requires that Gabe W. not be allowed to meet with fellow workers (even the 6 workers currently on strike!) and denies him the right to picket the store which fired him for union organizing.
Basically, this is another underhanded attempt by the owners to break union solidarity and try to stem lost business from the pickets.

Protest in Jena: The Pittsburgh perspective
By C. Denise Johnson | Published 09/27/2007
The eyes of the nation were fixed on Jena last week as the epicenter of a countrywide protest descended on Jena, La., in protest of the charges leveled against six Black youths accused of attempted murder. While many tuned to radio, TV and Internet coverage of the proceedings, a small cadre of activists made the trek to be part of the demonstration.

During General Assembly 2007, the Women’s Caucus met to discuss issues regarding gender and inclusion. Women from various spots in the country shared ideas, personal stories, and suggestions on where to go from here. Recognizing that the women’s caucus has met in previous years at the GA, the women at this year’s caucus hope to build on what was started in the past.
Below is a list of projects which we think will foster inclusion in the IWW. We welcome all wobblies to participate, including women, men, and transgendered people. Please get in touch if you would like to work on any of these projects.
